Spurs could have a "bigger talent than Mikey Moore" in Hotspur Way gem

There has not been much to celebrate for Tottenham Hotspur fans this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have seriously struggled in the Premier League, were demolished by Liverpool in the League Cup and crashed out of the FA Cup against Aston Villa.

The one competition the fans have been able to really enjoy has been the Europa League, and it’s no surprise that it’s where the club’s brilliant youngsters have made the most impact.

The most exciting academy star is undoubtedly Mikey Moore, but that might not be the case next season, as Hotspur Way might have another superstar in the making for Postecoglou.

Mikey Moore's incredible talent

While he might have been something of an unknown quantity to the majority of fans at the start of the season, Moore certainly isn’t anymore.

The 17-year-old phenom hasn’t played loads of football this term, with Postecoglou opting to ease him in slowly and illness keeping him out of the team for a while, but when he has stepped onto the pitch, he’s looked like he belongs there.

For example, despite not scoring or providing an assist in the first Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar back in October, the Southwark-born gem completely stole the show.

In fact, he was so brilliant to watch that James Maddison compared him to Neymar Jr in a post-match interview, which, as comparisons go, is not a bad one.

So far, the teenage dynamo has scored one goal and provided two assists in 16 first-team appearances, totalling just 632 minutes, meaning he’s chipped in with a goal involvement on average every 210.66 minutes.

Overall, Moore looks like he will become an incredibly important player for Spurs and Postecoglou over the coming years.

Still, he might have some extra competition out of Hotspur Way for the title of best youngster next season.

The prospect who could be better than Moore

The next young superstar in the making to come out of Hotspur Way looks like it could be the incredibly exciting Luca Williams-Barnett.

The 16-year-old phenomenon hasn’t made a first-team appearance yet – although he has featured on the bench – but don’t let that fool you; he appears to have what it takes to be a future world-beater.

In fact, he’s showing it week in and week out at the youth level, and so far this season, he has racked up a truly unbelievable tally of 19 goals and ten assists in 23 games, totalling 1797 minutes for the U18 team.

That means he’s averaging 1.26 goal involvements every game, or one every 61.96 minutes.

On top of that, the unreal talent can play in attacking midfield, on either wing, in left-midfield and he’s even played up top as well, leading academy expert and pundit John Wenham to describe him as a “cheat code.”

With such an astounding rate of return in the academy, it’s easy to understand why one prominent Spurs content creator asked, “is he a bigger talent than Mikey Moore?”

Ultimately, while that might seem a little premature to some, Williams Barnett has taken the Lilywhites junior sides by storm this season, and we would not be in the slightest bit surprised to see him lining up alongside Moore in the first team next year.

Chelsea now express strong interest in signing £31k-p/w "phenomenon" striker

Chelsea have now expressed strong interest in signing a striker who’s already scored 22 goals this season, but there is set to be fierce competition for his signature from their Premier League rivals, according to a report.

Maresca short on striker options

Enzo Maresca has found himself limited on options at striker this season, with Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu both currently sidelined, while Christopher Nkunku hasn’t exactly pulled up any trees, receiving heavy criticism at times from members of the media.

As such, Pedro Neto has been given the nod at striker in recent weeks, and the Portuguese forward was praised for his performance against Leicester City on Sunday, being lauded for the “incredible effort” he put in to help the Blues to a 1-0 victory.

However, given that Neto is not an out-and-out striker, Maresca may still be keen to bring in a fresh face this summer, and a report from Spain has revealed Lille’s Jonathan David is Chelsea’s ‘great desire’, indicating they hold a strong interest in the Canadian.

David’s form this season means he is a target for five Premier League clubs in the summer, at which point his Lille contract is set to expire, meaning he will be available on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old’s arrival in the Premier League is described as imminent, given the widespread interest in his signature, but his destination remains undecided for now, with talks set to commence in the coming weeks.

Chelsea now planning to submit £50m offer for "spectacular" midfielder

The Blues are set to make a bid for a 20-year-old, who is now considered one of their key targets.

ByDominic Lund Mar 9, 2025 "Phenomenon" David is having an incredible season

The Brooklyn-born striker has been impressive in Ligue 1 for quite some time, most importantly bagging 13 league goals in the 2020-21 campaign to help fire Lille to a surprise league title triumph.

However, this season could end up being the Canada international’s best to date, given that he has already scored 22 in all competitions, with six goals and two assists to his name in nine Champions League outings.

There are signs the £31k-per-week forward could be entering his prime, which means it could be the perfect time for Chelsea to pursue a move, and it is an added bonus that he is set to be available on a free transfer.

Former Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck has lauded David as a “phenomenon” in the past, and his performances for Lille over a number of years indicate he could be the solution to Chelsea’s striker problems.

Everton intensely scout "very special" star who Bayern want alongside Kane

Everton boss David Moyes will inherit financial backing from The Friedkin Group this summer, and he is expected to bring in a new era with some exciting arrivals.

Everton set their stall out ahead of upcoming window

Life at Everton is an exciting prospect for supporters, who have enjoyed visits to their new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock during test events. David Moyes has plenty on his plate before the move becomes reality, but he will hope to bring some recognisable names to the club during the close season to ensure morale remains at a recent all-time high.

According to reports, Federico Gatti could become a Toffee this summer for £25 million. Juventus have put his contract situation on hold until the end of the campaign, sparking hope of a timely intervention from the Premier League outfit.

Juventus' FedericoGattiand Khephren Thuram celebrate after the match

Further up the field of play, highly-rated Sunderland breakout star Chris Rigg is an Everton target. Transitioning to a younger core appears to be on the agenda, which could see Abdoulaye Doucoure depart Goodison Park amid speculation over his long-term future.

Internally, Moyes must decide on out-of-contract stars such as Doucoure, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Seamus Coleman. Jesper Lindstrom, Jack Harrison and a host of other loanees are also in the dark over where they will play their club football next term, prompting scope for movement in both directions.

Everton’s main priority at this point is moving up the Premier League table until safety is mathematically confirmed. Still, questions remain concerning whether the Toffees will conduct a rebuild or a refresh once the window opens.

Everton to fight Bayern Munich for Stuttgart's Woltemade

According to reports in Germany via Sport Witness, Everton are in the mix to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade. Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayern Munich will also compete for his signature. The latter would like to bring in the Germany Under-21 international to fight it out with Harry Kane to lead their frontline, which is a testement to his return of 12 goals and three assists in 24 appearances this campaign.

Everton must rue losing "special" star worth even more than Branthwaite

The former Everton star left Goodison Park in acrimonious circumstances.

ByAngus Sinclair Mar 28, 2025

Labelled “very special” by Sebastian Hoeneß, the 23-year-old has also shown his capacity to fashion opportunities for others, laying on 24 chances and completing 26 dribbles in the Bundesliga.

Capable of playing as a centre-forward or in a slightly detached role off the main striker, Woltemade possesses the versatility necesarry to make an impact in the top-flight. The Toffees have sent scouts to watch him in action on several occasions, indicating interest in his services definitely carries some weight.

The sticking point for Everton may be their competitors. Opportunities for a young star to join Bayern Munich don’t come around often, while Brighton have shown an ability to develop talent at an alarming rate over the last few years.

Can Moyes convince Woltemade that Merseyside is a better destination? There is no time like the present, with the club set to embark on an exciting new era.

Man Utd lining up "giant" striker for less than half price of £60m Ekitike

Manchester United are now interested in signing a £29 million “giant” as a possible alternative to Hugo Ekitike, according to a recent report.

Ekitike among Man Utd options in striker search

Given how goals have been an issue for the Red Devils this season and for the past 18 months, it isn’t a surprise that INEOS and Ruben Amorim are looking at potential strikers ahead of the summer transfer window.

INEOS and Amorim could sign boyhood Man Utd fan for £60m ahead of Arsenal

Manchester United could hold a key advantage in their race to sign a prolific goalscorer.

BySean Markus Clifford Mar 30, 2025

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, but he has many other admirers from England and abroad. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is also a player who is under consideration by the Old Trafford hierarchy, along with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, who United are now willing to spend £67 million on to secure his signing this summer.

But the options don’t stop there, as Football Insider reported that United are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Ekitike, and now The Mirror have reported that the Red Devils have an advantage over other teams in the race to sign Ekitike, as the striker is a boyhood United fan.

Eintracht Frankfurt's HugoEkitikecelebrates

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in signing Ekitike, but given he could cost as much as £60 million, there may be other options for the Red Devils to consider before turning to the Eintracht Frankfurt man.

Man Utd want £29m "giant" Lorenzo Lucca

According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, relayed by United in Focus, Manchester United have joined the race to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese at the end of the season.

The report claims that, given Etikite’s price tag, the Red Devils may look to consider cheaper alternatives, and Lucca has now emerged on their radar. However, they are not the only team chasing the Italy international, as Napoli and West Ham are also looking to secure his signature.

Despite only joining the Italian team last summer, Udinese are willing to do business this summer as long as they receive a fee of €35 million, which is roughly £29 million, much cheaper than what United would have to pay Frankfurt to sign Etikite.

Lucca, who has been dubbed “the giant from Moncalieri” given he stands at 6 foot 7, has spent all of his career in Italy, apart from a short loan spell at Ajax in the 2022/23 campaign.

The 24-year-old has been an impressive player in front of goal this season, netting 10 times in 29 Serie A games, as Udinese sit in the top half of the Italian table. Lucca represents a different profile for Amorim than what he currently has at Old Trafford, as the Italian is a player who can be more demanding in the box and has the physicality to hold the ball up and bring others into the game.

The concern would be that United have signed two strikers from Serie A in recent seasons, and both of them are yet to fulfil their potential.

Ashwin sees WTC final omission as 'stumbling block', not 'setback'

Having been left out of India’s XI for the WTC final against Australia despite being the No. 1 Test bowler in the world, R Ashwin looks at it as a “stumbling block” in his career and not a “setback”. Ashwin’s omission by India, who chose to play four quick bowlers and a spinner in Ravindra Jadeja, triggered a debate especially after they lost by 209 runs at The Oval, which is one of the more spin-friendly pitches in England.”For me, it’s not a setback,” Ashwin told the and . “It’s just a stumbling block, I’ll move on because I have gone through that. When somebody knocks you down for the first time, you have a knee-jerk reaction. I think you should be knocked down once in a while along your life so that you are used to it and will know how to bounce back. That’s what life is. Whether you are at your peak or not, it is still a setback. The fact that you need to learn how to deal with it is very important.”I would have loved to play because I have played a part in us getting there. Even in the last final I got four wickets and bowled really well. Ever since 2018-19, my bowling overseas has been fantastic and I have managed to win games for the team. I am looking at it as a captain or coach and I’m just talking in hindsight, in their defence. So the last time when we were in England, it was 2-2 with a drawn Test and they would have felt four pacers and one spinner is the combination in England. That is what they might have thought going into the final. The problem is for a spinner to come into play, it must be the fourth innings. The fourth innings is a very crucial facet and for us to be able to put that amount of runs so the spinner can come into play, it’s completely a mindset thing.”To look inwards and say ‘okay, somebody is judging me’ is foolishness. I think I’m not at the stage of my career to think what others are thinking of me. I know what I am capable of. If I’m not good at something, I’ll be my first best critic. And I will work on it and I’m not someone who will sit on my laurels. I’ve never been made that way. So to think of who’s judging me is immaterial.”

Much of the pre-match debate on team combination centred around whether India should play Ashwin or not, and there were a lot of opinions – from both experts and on social media – once he was left out of the XI.Ashwin last played a Test in England in 2021, the first WTC final, against New Zealand in Southampton. He took two wickets in each innings to finish with match figures of 4 for 45 from 25 overs, including ten maidens.Overall, he has featured in seven Tests in England, taking 18 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 28.11. However, when India last played a Test series in England, he was benched for all five Tests, of which four were played in 2021 and the last one in 2022, as India opted for four quick bowlers and one spinner. For the WTC final this time, Ashwin said he knew about his omission 48 hours before the game started, but he said he is a lot more “chilled” and “relaxed” at this stage of his life and career.”I’m a lot more chilled than I used to be,” he said. “A lot more relaxed in my life than I ever have been. Sitting here today, I realise how much of a toll it had taken on me mentally to the point where I was traumatised. But I am very glad to have come through that and discovered a new me.”A lot of people marketed me and positioned me that I am an overthinker. A person who will get 15-20 matches on the go doesn’t have to be mentally overthinking. A person who knows that they will get only two games will be traumatised and will be overthinking because it’s my job. It’s my journey. So this is what suits me.”

Berta "will try" to sign £160k-per-week star amid new Arsenal transfer plan

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is set to attempt a major summer signing for Mikel Arteta this summer, as the Gunners hatch an ambitious new transfer plan ahead of another potential Premier League title challenge next season.

Arsenal through to Champions League quarter-finals

The north Londoners are throwing all of their eggs in the Champions League basket, with Europe coming as their only chance to win a major piece of silverware before the end of the campaign.

Arsenal cruised through to the Champions League quarter-finals after beating PSV Eindhoven 9-3 on aggregate over the course of their two-legged Champions League last 16 tie, with Arteta’s side set to take on Real Madrid in the next round.

The Gunners boss praised just how atmospheric the Emirates Stadium was on Wednesday evening, despite the tie being a foregone conclusion, and Arteta will be hoping for more of the same when Carlo Ancelotti and co make the trip to north London.

“They told us that with the result that we had from the first leg that it wasn’t going to be full,” said Arteta on the crowd during their 2-2 draw with PSV.

“But there we had to continue and do the work in the manner that we wanted to finish the competition. Unfortunately, we haven’t managed to win the game, but we decided to make a lot of rotation as well. You could see in the second half that we were tired, we were late to be much more dominant in the opposition half and much more consistent, especially when we didn’t have the ball. But overall, I’m very happy because we have the second consecutive season in the Champions League quarter-finals. We’re going to travel to Madrid, but unfortunately, we don’t know who against yet.”

Ahead of their clash with PSV, major off-field news came to light that ex-Atletico Madrid director Berta was set to join Arsenal as Edu Gaspar’s replacement. The transfer chief comes to Arsenal with a stellar reputation, having enjoyed 12 successful years at the Wanda Metropolitano before departing in January.

Since his appointment, there has been much speculation over who the 53-year-old could look to sign for Arteta this summer.

Reports suggest that Berta is keen on striking a deal for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, but the official also wants to seriously reinforce Arteta’s engine room.

Berta "will try" to sign Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes for Arsenal

According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, writing on social media, Arsenal have a new plan to make Arteta’s midfield “the strongest” in England.

As a result, £160,000-per-week Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has emerged as a serious target for them.

Bruno Guimaraes celebrates for Newcastle

Indeed, it is believed that Berta “will try” to sign Guimaraes for Arsenal this summer, alongside Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who’s been heavily linked since January.

The Brazilian, who’s bagged eight assists from midfield in all competitions, is a highly creative and crucial mainstay starter for Eddie Howe, not to mention the Magpies captain, so his signing would be a hugely ambitious one from Berta.

The interest in Guimaraes is obvious, considering his midfield versatility and dynamism, but Newcastle certainly won’t let him go without a fight, amid claims that Arsenal also want his high-flying teammate Alexander Isak.

Mark Adair rues 'poor decisions' as Ireland let slip their chance for series leveller

Bowler hopes that lessons will be learned for World Cup qualifiers as thoughts shift to Lord’s

Andrew Miller15-May-2023With four hard-earned wickets and a pugnacious 20 from 10 balls, Mark Adair came close to being Ireland’s hero in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh at Chelmsford. However, he admitted that a handful of “poor decisions” with the bat had denied his side a share of the series in their final World Cup Super League outing.Automatic World Cup qualification had been off the table for Ireland following the washout that blighted the opening match of the series on Tuesday, but with a tough ten-team tournament looming in Zimbabwe next month, there were plenty lessons to be learned for the Irish – some of them harsh ones, after Bangladesh twice came good at the death to win a pair of thrillers by three wickets and five runs respectively.Ireland’s batting was especially culpable in the final game, with four of the top five all making scores between 45 and 60, but none of them going on to anchor a run-chase that the bowlers, in claiming 5 for 13 at the end of Bangladesh’s own innings, had kept to a very attainable 275.”To win games of cricket, someone has to be not out at the end,” Adair told ESPNcricinfo. “I would have loved someone to be 120 not out there, or 80 not out, but just wasn’t the case”In the next couple of months, we’ve got a real tough grind to try and get through World Cup qualifiers, with some top teams. So yeah, it would have been nice to finish this with a win and give us a bit of confidence going into that, but at least we know that when we get into positions like that, we have to make sure we drive them home.”Speaking at the post-match presentation, Ireland’s captain Andrew Balbirnie – who himself made 53 from 78 balls – was similarly frustrated about the chance that had gone begging for his side.”As batters we must do better, one of us should have seen us home,” he said. “We were in control for large parts and it is again frustrating not to get over the line. Going into a qualifying tournament we have to get better. We lost wickets in clusters at the back end and that’s what can happen in this game.”Adair’s wicket was among those to tumble at the end, although not before he had briefly given his side renewed hope by launching Mrittunjoy Chowdhury’s final over for 14, including a six down the ground and a pulled four through square leg. But then, needing ten from six balls as Hasan Mahmud stepped up for the final over, Adair attempted a ramp over fine leg and was bowled to put the result beyond reasonable doubt.”I’m not sure you ever play team sports to have a good day for yourself and lose the game, but obviously I thought 275 was a good score, thought it was around par,” Adair said. “The way we started with the bat, I felt we were excellent, we built partnerships throughout, but unfortunately we couldn’t really get across the line. I don’t think the pressure got to us exactly, but I just think we made a couple of bad decisions, or a couple of risks that didn’t pay off.”Getting it down to the last over is the position I want to be in,” he added. “I want to be given the last over with the ball, and I want to be in for the last over to try and chase those totals. It was probably a poor decision from me, but give credit to Hasan, he bowled well and got his rewards at the end.”Although the qualifiers are looming large, Ireland’s next big occasion is hardly one to take lightly. On June 1, they return to Lord’s for a Test match against England, and for Adair, it’s an opportunity to reprise one of the proudest days of his career – when, as a 23-year-old in 2019, he provided the back-up with 3 for 32 as Tim Murtagh’s five-for routed England for 85 on the opening day of the game.”Yeah, it was a great day,” Adair recalled. “We went in with no expectations. England had just won the World Cup, so we tried to give the best team in the world a run for their money, and luckily Murts had it on a string and the rest is history.”I would absolutely love to [repeat that experience], but I’m not sure that’ll be the case. We’ve got a little bit more grounding behind us with the red-ball tours of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. That was tough cricket – tough on the bodies, tough on the mind – but it’s something we’re looking forward to.”
