Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Jesse Lingard to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by Alasdair Gold, who revealed in a recent Q&A on football.london that sporting director Fabio Paratici and his Tottenham transfer have opened talks with the Manchester United forward regarding a potential move to North London on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Speaking about Spurs’ interest in the England international, the journalist said: “Spurs have spoken to Jesse Lingard’s representatives about a potential summer move. That could be one to come back to in a few months although there have been some indications that he may prefer a move abroad.”

While it is true that Lingard has barely featured for United in the current campaign – under the management both of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick – considering just how impressive Lingard was during a loan spell away from Old Trafford last season, the news that Tottenham are interested in a move for the 29-year-old is sure to have left fans buzzing.

Indeed, over his 16 Premier League outings for West Ham United last time out, the £18m-rated attacking midfielder was in breathtaking form for the Irons, scoring nine goals, providing five assists and creating three big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 2.6 shots and making 1.1 key passes per game.

Manchester United may be just ‘days’ away from finalising the appointment of Erik ten Hag as manager, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. 

The lowdown

United are looking for a permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked back in November.

Ralf Rangnick has taken over on a temporary basis until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Telegraph’s Jason Burt revealed on Wednesday evening that United are ‘closing in’ on taking Ten Hag from Ajax, with things now ‘moving fast’.

The Dutchman has led the club to two Eredivisie titles, one Dutch Cup and one Dutch Super Cup during his five years in charge.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News on Friday morning (via Football Daily), Ornstein stressed that a deal had not been agreed yet but says United are hoping to complete the process in ‘the next couple of weeks’.

“They have honed in, it seems, on Erik ten Hag, and Mauricio Pochettino, but it appears that Ten Hag is the preferred candidate.

“The thing is, the deal is not done, as I understand it. Until it is done, there’s obviously going to be a lot of debate and speculation.”

He later added: “You would like to think, if you’re Manchester United, that, having come so far, they’ll get things done in the coming days and the next couple of weeks.

“I don’t know the exact timescale in that sense because you’ve got to dot a lot of Is and cross a lot of Ts but I think United are in a position where they want to get this closed but it’s not closed yet.”

The verdict

What obstacles might remain in talks with the 52-year-old?

Well, according to Fabrizio Romano, he’s asked the club to be ‘100% involved on present and future strategy’, encompassing additions, outgoings and new contracts.

He apparently considers this ‘key’ to his prospective ‘rebuild’ at Old Trafford.

It will be intriguing, if he’s confirmed as the next manager by the end of the month, to see how much input he has on the contracts that expire in the summer.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata are currently due to leave as free agents, but will he have something to say about that?

Em entrevista coletiva após a derrota para o Flamengo, no último sábado, o gerente de futebol do Alvinegro, Anderson Barros reforçou o quanto está pessimista num desfecho da novela agradável ao Glorioso.

-Não tem definição sobre Rodrigo Aguirre. Durante essa semana eu estava pessimista e continuo dessa forma. A gente diz que nada se acaba, mas a tendência é que não aconteça – comentou o dirigente, que esperava um desfecho da situação até este domingo.

Em entrevista ao site Globoesporte, o agente do jogador revelou que abrirá conversas com outras equipes, embora seja o desejo do jogador defender o Botafogo. Betancourt disse ainda que o Alvinegro ‘se calou’ nos últimos dias sobre os detalhes finais do acerto.

Aguirre tem 23 anos e pertence à Udinese-ITA. Revelado pelo Liverpool-URU, ele defendeu o Nacional-URU na última temporada, por empréstimo. Enfrentou o Botafogo pela volta das oitavas de final da Libertadores, foi expulso, mas chamou a atenção da torcida.

كما نفى فرنانديز بشكل قاطع مصافحته الفاترة لرونالدو بعد وقت قصير من ظهور المقابلة.

بدا أن رونالدو قد أحرق علاقته مع مانشستر يونايتد في مقابلة مع مورجان، والتي صدرت هذا الأسبوع.

We were underdogs, but we were a family out there. On paper, the Mumbai Indians are probably the better team. Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed Aston Villa have made contact over a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter.

The Lowdown: Ginter profiled

Ginter has been with Monchengladbach since 2017, making 177 appearances for his current employers.

The 28-year-old, who shares the same agent as Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, is out of contract at the end of June.

The World Cup winner can also turn out as a right-back or in a holding midfield role, and it looks as if Steven Gerrard is keen on Ginter’s services.

Plettenberg took to Twitter on Monday evening to provide an update on Ginter’s future. He revealed that Gerrard wants the centre-back, with Villa officials contacting the player’s representatives.

“News Ginter: Gerrard wants him! Aston Villa officials have spoken to his management. But Ginter has not made a decision yet. He waits for other options.”

The Verdict: Shrewd move?

It looks as if Gerrard is going to be in need of multiple defensive reinforcements over the summer, with recent reports suggesting that both Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa could be made available for transfer. Should both depart, Villa would be left with just Calum Chambers and Kortney Hause as senior centre-back options.

A move for Ginter could be a shrewd one due to his international and Champions League experience, something that could help Gerrard as he looks to take Villa to the next level in his first full season in charge.

Who knows, a deal may also be fairly straightforward, should the player want to move to England, as his agency was in positive talks with Villa last year when Ramsey penned a new long-term deal at Villa Park.
