Khaled Mahmud, the former Bangladesh captain, has been appointed assistant coach of the national side, while bowling coach Champaka Ramanayake’s contract has been extended to March 2010.Mahmud, who took charge of a ten-day training camp for the national side ahead of their successful West Indies tour in the absence of national coach Jamie Siddons, had been operations manager of the National Cricket Academy.With the Asia Cup scheduled for next June, the Bangladesh board has agreed in principle to reschedule its tour of England also slotted for the same month. The two boards are yet to finalise the new dates.The board extended the contracts of age-group selectors Ehsanul Haque and Sajjad Ahmed till June 30 2010 but will review fielding coach Mohammad Salahuddin’s contract after the home series against Zimbabwe in November.The agreement between the board and the national team sponsors Grameenphone will be extended to November 15, 2009 since its original expiry date fell between the Zimbabwe series.

West Brom’s first Championship match in December sees them take on Coventry City away from home at the weekend.

Albion have racked up an incredibly mixed bag of results throughout October and November with the Baggies heading into the match at Coventry with three draws and a defeat in their four previous league games with just one goal scored.

In terms of what XI Valerien Ismael could pick to start the match, there’s one area of the pitch that could give the boss some cause for concern on this occasion.

With Jake Livermore and Jayson Molumby serving bans and Robert Snodgrass seemingly out of the frame altogether, it seems as though Ismael could have a decision to make over who will play alongside Alex Mowatt in central-midfield.

Opportunity knocks

One player that could take advantage of this situation and make his mark on the team is 18-year-old Tom Fellows, who has been on the substitutes bench for West Brom’s two previous league games.

Despite predominantly playing on the right-hand side of the pitch or left-hand side on occasions in the past, this could be the opportunity that Fellows has been waiting for to show Ismael what he can do in the senior team to see if he can do a job for them in a new central role.

With West Brom u18 manager Peter Gilbert previously saying that Fellows has “physical aspects which can hurt teams, no matter which position he plays in,” this suggests that the youngster could have what it takes to at least fill in for the missing senior central-midfielders on this occasion and possibly even transform how the team plays altogether.

Indeed, with four goal involvements in Premier League 2 this term, there is certainly a case to be made that he could influence proceedings in the final third for the Albion first-team.

However, given how West Brom could really do with a win to get their season back on track and keep them in the race for a promotion place back to the Premier League, Ismael may see it as too much of a risk to play an inexperienced youngster in an unfamiliar position against senior opposition.

That said, if Ismael took the gamble and put Fellows in from the start against Coventry and he manages to make the most out of the opportunity and impress his manager, this could well spark the start of his senior career at The Hawthorns, which would surely be incredibly exciting for the fans.

يوفيتش الذي لم يثبت نفسه في المواسم الأخيرة مع ريال مدريد، يريد العودة إلى صدارة كرة القدم الأوروبية مع فيورنتينا.

Despite being advised four weeks rest, he returned to play against India with hopes of a memorable contribution and played in the rest of their games with the injury.But he struggled with the bat, a series of stuttered innings holding back whatever start Pakistan’s openers often provided. The injury – to the small finger on his right and bottom hand – visibly hindered his batting and his 15 against New Zealand completed a tournament where he made just 53 runs. More pertinently tonight, the injury led to Younis dropping a sitter, off Grant Elliott, at a crucial moment in the game.Elliott was struggling along on 42 in the 40th over when Mohammad Aamer came back into the attack as Pakistan searched for wickets. Elliott drove limply to short cover, where Younis tried to take, awkwardly, with fingers pointing up, but dropped. New Zealand were 165 for 4 at the time and the drop had about it the feel of a match-turning moment. Since the new owners at Newcastle United took charge of the Tyneside club back in early October, the Toon have only managed to win one league game.

Taking the focus away from the players on the pitch and how the team are getting on, with it being well documented in recent weeks that Newcastle are looking to appoint a director of football to take the club forward off the pitch, it seems as though they could be set to miss out on one of their potential candidates.

It was recently reported by Newcastle journalist Craig Hope in the Daily Mail that ex-Swansea recruitment chief Andy Scott has been mentioned with the role

However, in a fresh twist, a different report from Football Insider has now claimed that Scott has agreed a deal to join Championship club Middlesbrough instead.

He left his role at Swansea only a few days ago after being appointed back in July 2019 by ex-Swansea chairman Trevor Birch, around a month after Steve Cooper was named head coach at the Championship club.

Huge blow

If this report from Football Insider is true and Scott does end up joining Middlesbrough in the coming days, this surely won’t be good news for Amanda Staveley and co as one of their targets will have to be chalked off the list and therefore narrow down their remaining options for the role.

Moving forward, it would be in the club’s best interest if they secured a director as soon as possible but make sure they get the right person in to give them the best chance of not only potentially securing the best possible incoming transfers in January but to make sure the club is running how it should be and how the owners want it to be run for the foreseeable future under their reign.

It’s a shame because Scott would have been an impressive capture by the Magpies. He helped steer the Swans to consecutive play-off finishes while acquiring the likes of Ryan Manning and Jamal Lowe. Per SofaScore, the former ranks as the club’s seventh-best performer this term while Lowe bagged 14 in his debut campaign in Wales.

Thus, he evidently has a keen eye for spotting talent and surely could have brought a great deal of expertise to St James’ Park. In turn, Staveley will quite understandably be gutted if he moves elsewhere, especially to a rival in the northeast.

Nonetheless, they will have to find somebody else and with the Toon managing to concede 30 league goals in their 15 games so far this season, they need to identify a candidate quickly to fix their vast issues.

​Quem conhece o treinador do Botafogo sabe: ele não gosta de falar de arbitragem. No jogo do Nilton Santos, mais uma vez, ela roubou a cena: no fim do jogo, os corintianos ficaram na bronca por um pênalti de Igor Rabello em Jô, no último lance.

O técnico do Botafogo até tentou deixar a arbitragem de lado, para manter o padrão, mas acabou lembrando de polêmicas do primeiro turno, quando o Corinthians venceu por 1 a 0. Na ocasião, o time paulista teve um pênalti mal marcado e desperdiçado pelo mesmo Jô.

– Sigo minha linha de não falar de arbitragem. Tirar essa vitória do Botafogo por um lance no último minuto seria injusto. Não existe justiça no futebol, mas é algo que faz parte.
