A mãe e esposa do jogador do Palmeiras, Kris Espejo, fez a publicação no Instagram, dizendo que a criança estava melhor.

Chanderpaul wants youngsters to 'pull their weight'

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is hoping his inexperienced team-mates perform at their best in the four-Test home series against England

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the West Indies middle-order batsman, is hoping his inexperienced team-mates “pull their weight” in the four-Test home series against England, which begins in Kingston on February 4.”I think the young fellows around are learning. [Brendan] Nash did well in New Zealand in the last Test match and we have other players like Xavier Marshall and Dale Richards. Hopefully all these guys can go out there and all pull their weight, because everybody has to pull their weight in all these games,” he was quoted by the . “I don’t know what is going to happen on Wednesday but we just have to go out and do our best. Hopefully we can all do well and win the game.”England have had tremendous success against West Indies this decade, and have won 10 of their last 12 Tests against them – the other two were drawn. England won the four-Test contest 3-0 on the previous visit, in 2003-04. “It is for us to come out on top in all the games because winning the series is the main focus now,” Chanderpaul said. “Starting ahead and staying ahead will be the main focus for us. I am hoping to go out there and do better than the last time they were out here.”Nash, who had scores of 74 and 65 in Napier Test against New Zealand, sounded optimistic ahead of his first home series. “I am looking forward to this home series because this is something I have waited for a long time and hopefully if given the opportunity, I would like to come out and play well for the West Indies.”I am still very new to Test cricket and one-day cricket and for me it is still a learning curve and hopefully I can continue on the good work I have done so far and keep working hard in the nets and whenever I get my opportunity, I will really try and grab it with both hands.”With not many changes made to the squad that drew the two-Test series in New Zealand 0-0, Nash said the mood was upbeat. “We are very confident because it has only been a few changes from the last Test squad and so we still have the nucleus from the last Test match in New Zealand. We are hoping that the experience that we have gained playing together can help us in this series.”

Spurs: Fabio Paratici claim emerges

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial targets before the arrival of Nuno Santo has spoken about Italian sporting director Fabio Paratici in a recent interview this week.

And it’s not going to go down well with the supporters…

What’s the word?

Spurs spent several months trying to find a successor to Jose Mourinho after he was sacked in mid-April and held talks with several different names, including Chelsea’s former title winner Antonio Conte and even their former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, ex-Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca was inches away from being appointed as the new Spurs boss before Paratici was hired.

He had verbally agreed on a two-year contract but the move broke down as the former Juventus chief wanted to go in a different direction to what chairman Daniel Levy and Steve Hitchen were planning.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the Portuguese revealed:

“The agreement was done. We were planning the pre-season and Tottenham wanted an offensive coach. It wasn’t announced but we planned pre-season players.

“But things changed when the new managing director arrived and we didn’t agree with some ideas and he preferred another coach.

“I have some principles. I wanted to be coach of the great teams but I want the right project and a club where the people believe in my ideas, my way to play, and this didn’t happen with the managing director.”

Fans won’t be happy

This damning revelation could not have come at a worse time as the north London outfit have struggled for form in recent matches.

After three straight 1-0 victories to kickstart the 2021/22 league campaign, Nuno and his side have lost 3-0 in back-to-back Premier League games and drawn 2-2 across both the UEFA Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup.

Indeed, the numbers suggest that things have been much, much worse than they appear.

According to The Athletic, Spurs have the lowest expected goals (xG) of any team in the English top-flight (4.42) after the first five matches of the season. They are also second-lowest for total number of shots and have created just two big chances.

It would appear that Fonseca’s claim about a more defensively-minded coach is ringing true, on the evidence we’ve seen so far.

That will not go down well with the Spurs faithful, many of whom were never behind the appointment of Nuno and are very much still against it amid recent performances on the pitch.

This won’t do the atmosphere around the club any favours heading into this weekend’s north London derby.

AND in other news, Nuno handed huge dilemma by 5 ft 9 Spurs “machine” who was “bossing it” against Wolves…

Liverpool linked to Yves Bissouma

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma despite intense interest in the player’s services.

What’s the story?

According to the Daily Star, the Reds are set to battle it out with fellow Premier League outfit Arsenal for the highly-rated 25-year-old’s signature in January.

The report states that: “Bissouma is one of their top targets, though they will have to fend off competition from Mikel Arteta’s Gunners if they are to bring him to Anfield.”

Bissouma has entered the final two years of his current contract the Amex Stadium, meaning the winter window is likely to be the last chance for Brighton to secure a high price for their prized asset.

Jurgen Klopp needs him

After arriving on English shores back in 2018, the combative dynamo has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the top-flight, racking up 101 appearances for the Seagulls in all competitions.

He featured in all but two of Brighton’s league games last season, highlighting his importance to Graham Potter’s side, and when looking at his underlying numbers, it’s easy to understand why.

As per WhoScored, Bissouma recorded an average of 2.9 tackles per game, the highest total amongst his teammates who made over three appearances in 2020/21.

The Mali international also outperformed his colleagues when it came to interceptions, making 1.8 per Premier League fixture, but it wasn’t just his off-the-ball work where he excelled.

Bissouma achieved a passing accuracy of 87.4%, the third-highest tally in the whole of the Brighton squad, showcasing his adeptness at kickstarting attacks as well as breaking up the opponent’s play.

They’re all attributes that led to Gary Lineker labelling him an “exceptional footballer” on Twitter and would serve him well should he make the step up and join Liverpool over the coming months, and Reds manager Jurgen Klopp needs further reinforcements in his engine room.

The departure of Gini Wijnaldum has left the Anfield outfit short of options in the middle of the park after no replacement was signed over the meaning, especially after Harvey Elliott suffered a dislocated ankle in the opening weeks of the new campaign.

It remains to be seen whether the teenager’s injury forces Liverpool into the transfer market in January, although the arrival of the £22.5m-rated Bissouma would be a significant boost to their chances of success.

And, in other news…Edwards must secure Liverpool swoop for £28.8m-rated wizard, Klopp would love him

Bangladesh look to build on improved showing

Preview of the first ODI of the three-match series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe

Big PictureBangladesh failed to beat Sri Lanka in a thrilling tri-series final in Mirpur but an improved performance in their last two ODI’s – including a win against Sri Lanka in the group stage – will give them the edge going into the three-match series against Zimbabwe. The hosts were upset by Zimbabwe in the first match of that tri-series but were able to raise their game when it mattered. Bangladesh had relied heavily on Shakib Al Hasan in the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, and while he continued his good form in the tri-series, his team’s better show in the tournament was the result of a more collective effort.Shakib was well supported by spin partner Naeem Islam and the fast bowlers rose to the occasion. Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain took seven wickets between them in Bangladesh’s win in the league match against Sri Lanka, and Nazmul Hossain took three wickets in the final to help reduce Sri Lanka to 6 for 5. However, their top three batsmen struggled, managing only 46 runs between them in three games, and Zimbabwe will be keen to capitalise on their lean run.Zimbabwe won their first ODI against a Test-playing nation in over a year when they beat Bangladesh in the tri-series opener, but their batsmen capitulated for 80 against Sri Lanka. They had run Sri Lanka close in three of the five ODI’s in their home series prior to the tour of Bangladesh but squandered winning positions in each of those three games. They also struggled against the spin of Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan, and subsequently against Shakib and Naeem, who took three wickets each in the tri-series opener. Zimbabwe won their tour match against Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy comprehensively, but their batsmen failed once again and were bowled out for 89 in the first innings. Both teams were inconsistent, and had their highs against Sri Lanka in recent encounters, but Bangladesh peaked at the right time and their impressive performance against a quality outfit will give them the confidence and the momentum going into the ODI series.Form guide (last five completed ODIs, most recent first)Zimbabwe LWLLL
Bangladesh LWLLLWatch out forEd Rainsford took seven wickets in his last three ODIs, including two successive three-wicket hauls against Sri Lanka, and will spearhead Zimbabwe’s pace attack. He’s taken 10 wickets at 36.20 against Bangladesh and will want to improve upon that. He also took 3 for 27 in the first innings of the tour match to bowl out BCB Academy for 59.Nazmul Hossain performed well in the tri-series final, taking 3 for 30, and shone against Zimbabwe in the tour-match, capturing eight wickets. However, he would want to reduce his economy-rate of 5.54 and support new-ball partner Mashrafe Mortaza before Shakib and Naeem are brought on to bowl.TeamsRubel Hossain took four wickets in Bangladesh’s win against Sri Lanka in the league stage of the tri-series, and despite proving expensive in the final, he’s likely to be retained in place of Mahbubul Alam. Bangladesh, however, made a change to the batting order with Mohammad Ashraful moving up to No 3.Bangladesh (probable) 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Junaid Siddique, 3 Mohammad Ashraful (capt), 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5 Shakib Al Hasan, 6 Raqibul Hasan, 7 Mahmudullah, 8 Naeem Islam, 9 Mashrafe Mortaza ,10 Nazmul Hossain, 11 Rubel Hossain.Zimbabwe were yet to announce their 12 for the match. Despite the flop against Sri Lanka, they might retain the winning team that beat Bangladesh.Zimbabwe (probable) 1 Vusi Sibanda, 2 Hamilton Masakadza, 3 Tatenda Taibu, 4 Stuart Matsikenyeri, 5 Sean Williams, 6 Elton Chigumbura, 7 Keith Dabengwa, 8 Prosper Utseya (capt), 9 Ray Price, 10 Tawanda Mupariwa, 11 Ed Rainsford.Conditions
The pitches during the tri-series produced a series of low scores with an average of 18.60 per wicket in the last four ODIs. The side winning the toss chose to field each time, with the pace bowlers looking to utilise the favourable conditions in the morning and take some early wickets.Stats and Trivia The average runs-per-wicket at the Shere Bangla National Stadium is 26.49, significantly higher than the 18.60 in the four matches in the tri-series. Bangladesh average 26.97 per-wicket here in 17 matches.Zimbabwe enjoy a 19-15 win-loss record against Bangladesh. Since 2006 though, they have won five and lost 11 against them.Quotes”We want to win every match convincingly. That’s how we approach every game we play. I guess 200 can be a competitive score if you bowl and field well.”
“We are all expecting it to be 3-0 if we play good cricket in all three departments. We will go into it match by match.”

Crucial inspections never took place

A crucial inspection of the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium prior to West Indies’ Test against Australia in June 2008, and again before the abandoned Test on Friday against England, never took place according to an anonymous WICB source

Cricinfo staff14-Feb-2009A crucial inspection of the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium prior to West Indies’ Test against Australia in June 2008, and again before the abandoned Test on Friday against England, never took place according to a WICB source. In an email to Cricinfo the source said that the WICB wrote to the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Baldwin Spencer, saying “they wanted assurances and would want to do a thorough inspection in sufficient time to shift the venue if they had to”. The health minister, John Maginley, reportedly gave a verbal assurance but “the WICB did not press the issue and the game took place”. Only a single session was played on the third day in the drawn Test against Australia owing to a sodden outfield and poor drainage – two factors which also blighted the ground during the 2007 World Cup.The abandonment of Friday’s second Test against England was for altogether different reasons. However, grounds in the West Indies are supposed to host a regional game prior to a Test match, in order to ready the pitch and playing areas – or in Friday’s case, simply ascertain the ground’s viability in staging any form of match. This also never happened. “The WICB never insisted strongly,” wrote the source.Spencer, meanwhile, has announced a probe into the second Test fiasco. “It is my intention to commission an investigation into the unacceptable condition of the outfield at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground,” Spencer said. “There can be lessons in today’s aborted Test match that may pre-empt any such occurrence in cricket in the future.”The Government will mobilise all resources necessary to ensure that the Antigua Recreation Ground is prepared to the standards required to guarantee the safety of players and the convenience of spectators for the start of the rescheduled second Test on Sunday.””I apologise to the players and spectators for today’s unfortunate development. I extend particular apologies to the thousands of cricketing fans from the United Kingdom whose presence richly enhances the contest between the home team and England,” Spencer said.”Antigua and Barbuda owes them a stay with us that will be memorable not for today’s debacle, but for the warmth of our hospitality and for the excitement of the Test match that will commence on Sunday.”

Carter-Vickers badly failed Celtic vs Bayer

With Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side heading into Thursday night’s Europa League clash in rather poor form, with the Bhoys having lost four of their last seven fixtures in all competitions, the 56-year-old Hoops manager would have undoubtedly been hoping for a positive performance and result against Bayer Leverkusen in order to kickstart the club’s European campaign.

However, first half strikes from Piero Hincapie and Florian Wirtz gave the Bundesliga side a 2-0 lead at half-time in the fixture, before a 58th-minute Lucas Alario penalty and a stoppage time Amine Adli saw the visitors run out comfortable 4-0 winners, a result which leaves Celtic rooted to the bottom of the Group G table.

As evident from such a result, a number of Hoops players failed to impress over the course of the 90 minutes, with Kyogo Furuhashi, Tom Rogic and David Turnbull all receiving SofaScore match ratings of 6.4 or lower. However, it may be Cameron Carter-Vickers who is left most disappointed with his performance on Thursday night.

No tackles made

Despite having been in impressive form in the league for Celtic – with the centre-back averaging a SofaScore match rating of 7.60 over his three Premiership appearances, ranking him as the Bhoys’ fourth-best performer in the top flight – the 23-year-old very much had a game to forget against Leverkusen.

Indeed, over the course of his 90 minutes on the pitch, the £1.8m-rated defender failed to make a single tackle, blocked no shots and made just one clearance, in addition to – perhaps unfortunately – giving away the penalty for Leverkusen’s third goal of the match after being judged to have handled the ball in the box.

The £20k-per-week man also committed one foul, picked up a yellow card, ceded possession of the ball on 12 separate occasions and completed just two of his eight attempted long balls. These returns saw the Tottenham Hotspur loanee receive a hugely disappointing SofaScore match rating of 5.7, with no player from either team earning a lower score than the centre-back on the night.

As such, should Celtic wish to have any chance of qualifying from their Europa League group this season, Carter-Vickers will undoubtedly need to up his game over the club’s remaining fixtures in the competition as, even more so than his centre-back partner Carl Starfelt – who also struggled on the night – the American badly failed his manager on Thursday.
