Monty Panesar has been given hope of relaunching his Test career after being named in England’s squad to take on Pakistan in UAE next month. The 16-man party is very much as expected with Ravi Bopara retaining the spare batting slot and Steven Davies, the Surrey wicketkeeper, given the role of Matt Prior’s understudy as he was in Australia.In a sign of the consistency that has been a hallmark of England’s Test cricket over the last 18 months there is only one change from the original 16-man squad that travelled to Australia last year with Bopara replacing Paul Collingwood. The trio of players who have been recovering from injury – Stuart Broad (shoulder), Eoin Morgan (shoulder) and Chris Tremlett (back) – are all included although there remains a small injury cloud over Tim Bresnan who has recently undergone elbow surgery.”This series sees Steven Davies once again deputise as wicketkeeper to Matt Prior while Monty Panesar, who has been playing cricket in Sydney recently, has been selected as the second spin option along with Graeme Swann,” Geoff Miller, the national selector, said. “Monty’s selection comes off the back of a strong domestic season with Sussex and with the potentially spin-friendly conditions of Dubai and Abu Dhabi in mind.”Ravi Bopara has another opportunity to show his growth as a Test player and we believe he will continue to add depth to our batting stocks for what promises to be a highly competitive series.”Panesar remains the second-best spinner available for England and was the logical option to work alongside Graeme Swann. His last Test was against Australia, at Cardiff, in 2009 when he produced the famous last-wicket rearguard with James Anderson to save the match. He moved to Sussex to rejuvenate his career and last season he was the highest wicket-taker in Division One of the County Championship in 2011 with 69 victims at 27.24.Yet, whether Panesar makes the first eleven will depend on the willingness of Andrew Strauss and Andy Flower to move away from the current balance of six batsmen, the keeper and four bowlers – albeit in conditions that haven’t demanded a second spinner, or specialist fifth bowler – unless they opt for the risky strategy of two quicks and two spinners.The prolific form of England’s top five, Prior’s consistency in Test cricket, plus the developing allround skills of Bresnan and Broad, suggest England could cope with the shift in strategy but don’t be surprised to see the balance remain the same. However, there is little doubt that at some point next year – whether in UAE, Sri Lanka or India – England will need two spinners in the same attack.Bopara has clung onto his place in England’s Test plans after replacing the injured Jonathan Trott against India and has fought off the claims of James Taylor, Samit Patel and Jonny Bairstow. Davies, meanwhile, is back in an England squad for the first time since the one-day series in Australia during which he was omitted from the World Cup party.”We believe we’ve selected a very strong squad with a number of key players looking to return from injury including the likes of Stuart Broad, Eoin Morgan and Chris Tremlett,” Miller said. “All three have missed a significant period of cricket recently but continue to make excellent progress and will be looking forward to having a substantial impact during this series. امتدح تشافي هيرنانديز مدرب برشلونة لاعبه عثمان ديمبلي بعدما قاد فريقه للفوز على ريال سوسيداد والتأهل لنصف نهائي كأس ملك إسبانيا.

وفاز برشلونة على ريال سوسيداد بهدف دون مقابل، وتحدث تشافي في مؤتمر صحفي عقب المباراة. 

وقال تشافي عن مستوى ديمبلي المميز: “إنه ليس اليوم فقط، إنه لاعب نضج كثيرًا، نقدم له الأدوات (للتطور)، أرى الكثير من الجودة فيه”.

وأضاف: “ديمبلي لاعب يتمتع بإمكانات هائلة، أنا أؤمن به كثيرًا، يعاني اللاعبون في مركز الظهير دائمًا عندما يتعين عليهم الدفاع أمامه، إنه رجل طيب، لقد قلب الطاولة وأنا سعيد جدًا من أجله”.

وأستطرد تشافي: “ليس من السهل تغيير المسار في برشلونة، لقد انتقدوا ديمبلي، وأطلقوا صيحات الاستهجان عليه والآن يصفقون له، أنا سعيد جدًا من أجله”.

وعن حالة لاعبه بيدري الذي ظهر وكأنه يعاني من إصابة، أوضح تشافي: “بيدري لديه كدمة فقط في ركبته، لكنه سيكون متاحًا ليوم السبت (أمام جيرونا)”.

وفيما يتعلق بأداء سيرجيو بوسكيتس، قال تشافي: “بوسكيتس؟ إنه في مستوى جيد للغاية، وعلى مستوى عالٍ للغاية، إنه لاعب كرة قدم استثنائي، على مستوى آخر، بعد قولي هذا، نخسر الكرات في الانتقالات، وعلينا تحسين ذلك”.

Mohsin Khan, Pakistan’s interim coach and chief selector, has said he will not let his dual role hamper him or the team in any way during their series against Sri Lanka in the UAE. Sri Lanka, Mohsin said, is a tough opponent, which would make victory against them ‘sweeter’.”I am not going to confuse myself with the double responsibility,” Mohsin said on the sidelines of a training session. “The board has asked me to take up the responsibility. وخرجت الكثير من التكهنات مؤخرًا حول موقف كلاتبنرج من الرحيل أو الاستمرار في منصبه مع بعض الاعتراضات التي ظهرت في الجولات السابقة بشأن قرارات بعض الحكام في مباريات الدوري المصري.

وعلم “btolat.com” من مصدر موثوق أن كلاتنبرج قد تقدم بالفعل باستقالته للاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم بسبب إبعاده عن قرارات تعيين الحكام لإحدى مباريات الجولة الحالية.

ونكشف معكم كواليس استقالة كلاتنبرج والتي تعود لأشهر سابقة منذ أن تقلد منصب المستشار الفني للجنة الحكام في الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم كالتالي:

– الحكم الدولي الإنجليزي السابق لم يختف ولكن تم إبعاده عن عمد من قبل مجلس إدارة الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، وهذا ما يُقال في الإعلام المصري فقط، ولكنهم لم يتواصلوا مع كلاتنبرج رغم امتلاكهم بريده الإلكتروني الرسمي وكذلك أرقامه الشخصية، وعندما طلب كلاتنبرج إثباتًا بأنهم تواصلوا معه، تجاهلوه.

– قام أعضاء لجنة الحكام الحالية بتغيير حكم مباراة الأهلي والبنك الأهلي اليوم، دون علم كلاتنبرج، كذلك مباراة بيراميدز وسموحة اليوم.

– كلاتنبرج تقدم باستقالته رسميًا بسبب تدخلات رئيس لجنة الحكام السابق، عصام عبد الفتاح، بل إنه قام بالتواصل مع الحكم الدولي السابق من سيشل، إيدي ماييه، لقيادة اللجنة بدلًا من الإنجليزي.

– كلاتنبرج كان غاضبًا للغاية لفرض الحكم السابق، توفيق السيد، ضمن لجنة الحكام وكذلك أحمد أبو العلا خاصة وأن الأول كان يرغب دائمًا في تغيير أسماء الحكام المعينين لبعض المباريات في الأسابيع السابقة، وهو ما قابله اعتراضًا من الإنجليزي.

– قام توفيق السيد بتعيين محمد الحنفي وهو ليس الحكم الذي اختاره كلاتنبرج من قبل لتلك المباراة ارضاءً لبيراميدز وهذا ما يتم منذ بيان الأخير ضد الرابطة والتحكيم حيث تم تسريب اسم حكم مباراة الزمالك في كأس مصر لمسئولي نادي بيراميدز (هذا ما ظهر فيما بعد في أحد البرامج التلفزيونية) لتخفيف حدة الغضب في بيراميدز ولم يكن يعلم اسم الحكم سوى السيد وأحمد أبو العلا

– توفيق السيد يرى أن محمد الحنفي حكم رائع، عكس كلاتنبرج الذي يراه لا يصلح لإدارة المباريات في الدوري المصري، ربما يستطيع أن يكون في غرفة الفيديو ولكن كحكم ساحة لا يصلح، وقراره كان ابتعاد الحنفي لأنه وقع في ستة أخطاء فادحة في مباريات هذا الموسم ومع ذلك يدير المباريات كل جولة وهو ما يعطي انطباعًا للحكام الآخرين بعدم العدالة.

– كلاتنبرج لم يشعر بالمساندة من قبل اتحاد الكرة المصري لكرة القدم في أزمة اتهامات رئيس الزمالك، مرتضى منصور، له واتهامه بأنه على علاقة برجل وتزوجه في مصر، وهو ما وصل إلى ابنته في الخارج التي تحدثت مع والدها بحزن شديد عن تلك المعلومات وهو أمر غير صحيح تمامًا.

– كلاتنبرج كان غاضبًا في اجتماعه الأخير مع اتحاد الكرة المصري بعد شكواه من اتهامات مرتضى منصور الكاذبة، ونصحه أحد المقربين منه بالذهاب إلى السفارة البريطانية للشكوى من التطاول المتكرر.

– لم يتقاض كلاتنبرج راتبه وغادر مصر منذ 4 أيام رغم وعد اتحاد الكرة للحكم بأنه سيتقاضاه يوم 16 يناير، لكنه لم يحصل عليه حتى يوم 20 يناير وسافر ولم يصله المبلغ على حسابه الشخصي.

– كلاتنبرج يشعر أنه تعرض للخيانة، لم يكن يريد توفيق السيد معه بل سمير عثمان ولكن اتحاد الكرة رفض الأمر تمامًا دون سبب واضح.

– كلاتنبرج كان يرى أن هناك انحيازًا واضحًا من قبل توفيق السيد لصالح الزمالك في مبارياته، وكان يريد أن يضع أمين عمر في مباراة الأهلي وإنبي وهي الجولة التالية لمباراة الزمالك وأسوان والتي قام فيها مسؤولو الزمالك بمهاجمة الحكم، وهذا ما رفضه كلاتنبرج.

– أثار توفيق السيد غضب كلاتنبرج مرة أخرى بتعيين أحد حكام الفيديو في مباراة للأهلي على عكس رغبة الإنجليزي، لأنه كان واضحًا له بأنه ضد المارد الأحمر في إحدى المباريات السابقة، وكان حكم الـVAR يستدعي الحكم بدون أي سبب واضح.

– من الأشياء التي أغضبت كلاتنبرج أيضًا أنه كانت هناك خطة لتعيينات الحكام في المباريات، وقام أحد المسؤولين بتسريبها، لذلك أعلن الحكم الإنجليزي السابق التعيينات قبل كل جولة بيوم واحد عن طريق البريد الإلكتروني، ولهذا السبب استبعدوه من خيارات الحكام هذه الجولة وقالوا إنه لم يرد على هاتفه.

– كلاتنبرج يرى أن هناك حالة من الفوضى داخل لجنة الحكام، ولا يرغبون في السير على الطريق الصحيح وعندما كان يحلل الأخطاء كانوا لا يفعلون شيئًا، وهذا ما حدث في أحد أهداف الأهلي غير المحتسبة في شهر أغسطس الماضي، وانتهت المباراة بالتعادل السلبي.

– كلاتنبرج عندما جاء إلى مصر لم يوافق على كونه رئيس لجنة الحكام، بل مستشار فقط، لم يكن هناك أي بند في عقده بإلزامه التواجد في مصر، كان من ضمن عقده أنه لن يتقاضى أي راتب خلال فترة كأس العالم، لكنه كان يحلل المباريات مع الحكام لتصحيح الأخطاء وعاد إلى مصر قبل أسبوع رغم بنود العقد بعد كأس العالم، ولكنه رحل لقضاء إجازة أعياد الميلاد قبل العودة وحضور اجتماعات مجلس إدارة الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم.

– يثق كلاتنبرج أنه سيتم تغيير بعض الأشخاص من قبل المسؤولين في اتحاد الكرة المصري، ووفقًا لمعلومات المصدر أنه سيتحدث يوم الخميس علنًا عن كل الأسباب التي أدت إلى استقالته ويفضح ما كان يحدث داخل لجنة الحكام.

Scotland, Nepal and Ireland, who finished at the top of the points table, had already qualified. These six teams will be joined by the ten Full Members at the World Cup.Kenya Under-19s’ Duncan Allan, who finished the tournament with 455 runs from nine games at 50.55, was named Man of the Tournament. Allan said he was disappointed not to have made it to the World Cup – Kenya, with only two wins, finished ninth on the points table. “It would have been great to be part of the tournament next year. But I learnt a lot this time playing this tournament and I believe am a better player for the experience.”Scotland Under-19s won the qualifying tournament, after crushing bottom-dwellers Vanuatu Under-19s by 130 runs at Lodge Road. It was Scotland’s eighth win out of nine games, putting them ahead of Nepal Under-19s by two points. Nepal also qualified, as did hosts Ireland, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan. Ross McLean’s half-century helped Scotland get to 222, and then Vanuatu crumbled to 92 all out. Offspinner Kyle Smith took 5 for 17 as none of Vanuatu’s batsmen offered any resistance.The pitch, Smith said after the match, aided his bowling. “The pitch was a bit two-paced. So, all I had to do, was to bowl in the right areas. I am glad the tournament went off well for us, as we had prepared well for it.”Papua New Guinea Under-19s continued their rise up the table and secured qualification by picking up their fourth win in five games, this time easily beating Ireland Under-19s at Woodvale Road.Seamer Norman Vanua was PNG’s star with the ball; he picked up two early wickets that started a top-order collapse for Ireland, and when the Ireland lower order was fighting to take their team to a defendable total, Vanua came back and removed the last two batsmen. The 38-run eighth-wicket stand between Adam Coughlan and Barry McCarthy that Vanua broke was the highest of Ireland’s innings, and they only managed 155. PNG reached the target quickly, but not without losing five wickets. A quickfire 30 from Vagi Oala got the chase off to a rollicking start but the run-rate slowed slightly as wickets fell. But while Steven Taylor was at the crease, we were a bit wary. Once he fell, we were certain of a win.”Afghanistan Under-19s routed Canada Under-19s by eight wickets in a one-sided encounter at New Strabane Park which secured their qualification in fifth place. No Canada batsman managed to score more than 13 as they were skittled out for 71 by an all-round bowling effort from Afghanistan. Sayed Shirzad, Yamin Ahmadzai and Abdul Naseri picked up two wickets each to leave their batsmen facing an easy chase. Javed Ahmadi and Hashmatullah Shaidi did the needful, racing home in 15 overs despite the loss of two cheap wickets.Ahmadi’s positive, unbeaten knock of 34 from 25 won him the Man-of-the-Match award. He said the win came courtesy his sides’ high quality fielding. “Today’s victory belonged to the fielders. They were just brilliant and ran two batsmen out. When I batted, it was all very simple, since we did not have much to chase.”Kenya Under-19s dismal run in the tournament continued as they lost to Namibia Under-19s by 109 runs at the Drummond Cricket Club. The foundation for Namibia’s total of 314 was laid by captain Stephen Baard’s 89 and Merwe Erasmus’ 51, while the final surge was provided by Gert Lotter’s 35 off 18 balls and Christopher Coombe’s 31 off 17 balls. Lotter and Coombe took 64 runs off the last five overs to ensure Namibia reached the highest total of the tournament so far. Kenya never really went for the total in reply. After a delayed start the game was reduced to 38 overs a side but after 5.5 overs of Hampshire’s innings, further rain sent the sides off the field.The hold-up lasted only 10 minutes and Hampshire resumed at 32 for no wicket, with Jimmy Adams making up for lost time by smacking four boundaries in an over off Wayne White. But with the score at 50 without loss after nine overs, rain intervened again and this time the players were off the field for two hours and 50 minutes.When play finally restarted the game was down to a 17 overs-a-side. James Vince, having hit 31 off 38 balls, skied a catch to midwicket off Jigar Naik but Adams reached his 50 off 41 balls with six fours before the rain returned and forced another stoppage with Hampshire on 89 for 1 off 14 overs.There was no let-up in the weather and the game was finally abandoned as a ‘no result’ at 6.40pm, both sides collecting a point each.
