Chris Gayle, the captain of the Jamaica Tallawahs, has praised the contributions of Kumar Sangakkara and Andre Russell after the pair put on 35 in 11 balls for fourth wicket to help defeat Barbados Tridents by seven wickets and book Jamaica’s place in Saturday’s final against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.Sangakkara, who signed for Jamaica last week, anchored the innings with an unbeaten 50, and added a crucial 71 for the second wicket with Chadwick Walton to set the tone for Russell’s late onslaught, and Gayle believed his experience was vital in seeing Jamaica through.”He made a big impact and we’re happy for that. We all know what a class and key player he is, having done it worldwide, and we’re pleased that he took us over the line,” Gayle said. “Being a [former] captain, he knows what the situation requires. Hopefully he can do it again tomorrow, so that we can finish with a high and can celebrate.”Gayle said that despite facing an increasing run-rate, Jamaica were always confident of chasing down Barbados’ 148 so long as they had big-hitters like Russell to come.”Once he [Russell] gets going, it’s going to be difficult to stop him. I don’t know when something like this (a 6-ball 29) will happen again, but I knew that I had the potential for making these whirlwind scores,” he said. “Well done to the guys who set the tone and made my job a bit more comfortable, to just come in and play my natural game.”Looking ahead to Saturday’s final against Guyana, Gayle said that his team would have to be at their very best if they were to prevail against the tournament favourites. “They are the only team to beat us twice and have been playing good all-round cricket. Yorkshire’s seam attack has proved itself a formidable unit over the past five months and when Ryan Sidebottom uprooted Luke Wells’s off stump with a brutish swinging delivery as early as the third ball of Sussex’s second innings, it was clear that Ed Joyce’s batsmen were to have their work cut out amid the encircling gloom on the south coast.It was a good day for anthropologists at Hove. The morning was spent watching players, umpires and spectators conduct themselves during the bizarre set of rituals associated with a delayed start because of rain and a wet outfield; the afternoon and evening offered the sight of Yorkshire’s batsmen playing a little carelessly and being bowled out for 292, thus gaining a first-innings lead of only 34 when an advantage around 100-150 was probably desirable.But still, the White Rose removed two wickets before the deficit was wiped out – Michael Yardy cover-driving Liam Plunkett low to Phil Jaques’s right. But that was as good as it got for Andrew Gale’s title-chasing team. True, he does not turn the ball yards, and also true, the batsmen conspired in their own downfall, Ballance top-edging a sweep and Rashid driving loosely to mid-on, but Zaidi maintained a decent line and earned his wickets.So for all that Andrew Gale’s stressed the need to attack and play positively when play finally got under way at 2.10pm, he will surely have been hoping that his last six wickets would not be taken for as few as 76 runs in 24 overs. A larger lead would have given Yorkshire the chance to attack in the field on the final day and it will be galling in the extreme for Gale’s men if they are left with too stiff a target to chase.Williamson was lbw to Anyon without adding to his overnight 80 and the excellent Magoffin accounted for nightwatchman Steve Patterson. Plunkett whacked a cheery 27 but there remained a sense that amid the bad light and rain breaks, Yorkshire had missed something of an opportunity to truly dominate the contest. Tomorrow we may find out if such tentative judgements were justified.

وكان مبابي قد أجرى حوارًا مع شبكة “NIC Sport” الإيفوارية، والذي نُشر منذ قليل، حيث لم يتحدث عن مستقبله مع باريس سان جيرمان رغم التكهنات المتزايدة في الفترة الأخيرة.

وأبلغ مبابي مسؤولي باريس سان جيرمان أنه لا ينوي تفعيل بند التمديد في عقده الحالي، الأمر الذي يعني رحيله مجانًا نهاية الموسم المقبل، أي صيف 2024.

وتسبب ذلك الأمر في إثارة غضب إدارة باريس سان جيرمان، والتي تسعى إلى التخلص من مبابي هذا الصيف إذا لم يتخذ قرارًا جديدًا بشأن مستقبله.

وتواجد مبابي مؤخرًا في مسقط رأسه في الكاميرون، حيث أدلى بتصريحات صحفية، وظن البعض أنه سيتحدث عن مستقبله بشكل أو بآخر، وهو ما لم يحدث.

ووفقًا للصحفي الفرنسي، Andrés Onrubia Ramos، فإن عدم حديث مبابي عن مستقبله خلال حواراته الإعلامية الأخيرة جاء بناءً على رغبة والدته ووكيلة أعماله، السيدة فايزة العماري.

وأوضح أن فايزة العماري وافقت على إجراء نجلها لمقابلات صحفية مع وسائل إعلام إفريقية الأسبوع الماضي، ولكن بشرط عدم توجيه أي أسئلة تخص مستقبله، وتم الإيفاء بهذا الأمر.

He delivered an unconditional apology at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, nearly three years after he was handed a seven-year ban from participating in any form of cricket.”I accept the punishment from the ICC tribunal in 2011,” Asif said at a press conference. “I apologise for my actions that have brought disrespect to my beloved country, to the millions of fans in Pakistan and in the world. When I look back at the events of my career, I feel very sorry.”I request all the players who want to represent their country that they must keep away from all sorts of corruption,” he added. “I am ready to help any player who wants to avoid such pitfalls. I will duly cooperate with the ICC, its Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) and with the PCB, in fighting corruption in the game.”In April, Asif and his former captain Salman Butt, who was handed a five-year ban and another five years suspension from all cricket by the ICC, lost their appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for the suspensions to be reduced. Dave Richardson, the ICC’s chief executive, called on them to admit their wrongdoing and cooperate with the ICC’s ACSU following which Butt had apologised in June.Asif, who was found guilty of bowling a deliberate no-ball, will be 33 by the time the minimum of five years from his ban are complete and will work through the final two years under suspension, on condition that he commits no further breach of the Code of Conduct throughout that period and participates in an anti-corruption education programme under the Pakistan Cricket Board. The apology is not expected to have any immediate implications but Asif will have to undergo rehabilitation and present the whole truth to the ACSU and PCB.”I also want to make myself available for the rehab program to be conducted by the PCB through the support of the ICC,” he said, “I have suffered a lot because of my wrongdoings. Now on the Independence Day of my country, I promise that once my ban finishes I will try to repair the damage I have done. My family has also suffered so I want to start a new life with a hope that all the fans of the game accept me.””I also request the ICC to allow me to play first-class cricket so that when my ban ends I am fit enough to represent my country.”

يذكر أن الـ 3 منتخبات الأولى من البطولة تتأهل مباشرة إلى أولمبياد باريس 2024، والمنتخب الرابع يلعب مباراة فاصلة مع نظيره من قارة آسيا للتأهل.
