It is certainly a blow for the Wearside club that they will be without Dajaku once more.

The latest: Falk confirms Saints interest

Taking to Twitter, Head of Football for German outlet SportBILD Falk stated that Southampton are among the suitors for the Nigerian international.

“TRUE. West Ham, NUFC and Southampton are interested in Taiwo Awoniyi @fcunion. The striker has a release clause of 20 Mio €.”

Recently hailed as a ‘hero’ by Union Berlin’s official Twitter account, Awoniyi is the only player in the club’s history to score 13 Bundesliga goals in a single season.

As Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl prepares for life without Armando Broja next season – although a potential permanent deal is likely to be explored – it’s wise that the club begin to explore potential alternative options.

Outrora dada como encaminhada, a negociação do atacante uruguaio Rodrigo Aguirre com o Botafogo deu uma esfriada nos últimos dias. Em entrevista coletiva após a derrota para o Flamengo, no último sábado, o gerente de futebol do Alvinegro, Anderson Barros reforçou o quanto está pessimista num desfecho da novela agradável ao Glorioso.

-Não tem definição sobre Rodrigo Aguirre. Durante essa semana eu estava pessimista e continuo dessa forma. A gente diz que nada se acaba, mas a tendência é que não aconteça – comentou o dirigente, que esperava um desfecho da situação até este domingo.

Em entrevista ao site Globoesporte, o agente do jogador revelou que abrirá conversas com outras equipes, embora seja o desejo do jogador defender o Botafogo. Betancourt disse ainda que o Alvinegro ‘se calou’ nos últimos dias sobre os detalhes finais do acerto.

Aguirre tem 23 anos e pertence à Udinese-ITA. Revelado pelo Liverpool-URU, ele defendeu o Nacional-URU na última temporada, por empréstimo. Enfrentou o Botafogo pela volta das oitavas de final da Libertadores, foi expulso, mas chamou a atenção da torcida.

Ao longo desta semana, o atacante, o Botafogo e o time europeu definiram os valores do acordo: US$ 250 mil pelo empréstimo. O tempo (um ano ou 18 meses) era um detalhe que faltava ser acordado.

Troca de carinhos

Nas redes sociais do jogador, houve uma ‘invasão’ do torcedor botafoguense pedindo que Aguirre fechasse com o clube. E a recíproca foi verdadeira. O uruguaio sempre postou que queri fechar com o Botafogo. No Instagram, ele escreveu em português: ‘Quero ser feliz no Fogão’. No Twiter, postou (tradução livre)

– Não quero Argentina, não quero o México, não quero a Itália, não quero o Equador. Eu quero o velho e grande tetra campeão – publicou, fazendo uma referência ao tetracampeonato carioca do Botafogo, entre 32 e 35.

Se fechar com o Botafogo, Aguirre será a quinta contratação da temporada. Além dele vieram os meias Luiz Fernando e Renatinho e os atacantes Kieza e Leandro Carvalho.

Desde o ano passado, quando uma bola cruza o espaço aéreo do Botafogo, a torcida já sente calafrios. Motivo de muitas reclamações durante todo o 2017, os cruzamentos à defesa alvinegra já causaram estragos em 2018, confirmando que o percentual de gols sofridos desta forma aumentou. Alberto Valentim, que assumiu o comando do time há dois dias, terá esses números para analisar. E consertá-los o mais rapidamente.

Foram após cruzamentos que saíram o primeiro gol do ano, marcado pela Portuguesa, no Carioca, e os dois da Aparecidense, na trágica eliminação na Copa do Brasil. De certa forma, eles marcaram Felipe Conceição, demitido após aquela eliminação e a queda para o Flamengo, quando o time levou mais um desta maneira.

Nesta temporada, cinco dos oito gols sofridos pelo Alvinegro foram após cruzamentos. Um total de 62,5% das bolas buscadas por Jefferson no fundo da rede nos primeiros sete jogos. Isso comparado aos 24,32% de 2018 (foram assim 18 dos 74 gols sofridos). No levantamento, o LANCE! não incluiu cruzamentos baixos ou jogadas nas quais a bola rodou muito após ser levantada à área.

Após se recuperar de problema físico, o zagueiro Carli voltou ao time titular exatamente na partida contra a Aparecidense. Formou, com Marcelo e Igor Rabello,trio de zaga que não foi bem e acabou desfeito no jogo seguinte. Contudo, além da evolução do setor ao qual pertence, quer que todo o Glorioso reconquista a torcida.

Manchester United may be just ‘days’ away from finalising the appointment of Erik ten Hag as manager, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. 

The lowdown

United are looking for a permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked back in November.

Ralf Rangnick has taken over on a temporary basis until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Telegraph’s Jason Burt revealed on Wednesday evening that United are ‘closing in’ on taking Ten Hag from Ajax, with things now ‘moving fast’.

The Dutchman has led the club to two Eredivisie titles, one Dutch Cup and one Dutch Super Cup during his five years in charge.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News on Friday morning (via Football Daily), Ornstein stressed that a deal had not been agreed yet but says United are hoping to complete the process in ‘the next couple of weeks’.

“They have honed in, it seems, on Erik ten Hag, and Mauricio Pochettino, but it appears that Ten Hag is the preferred candidate.

“The thing is, the deal is not done, as I understand it. Until it is done, there’s obviously going to be a lot of debate and speculation.”

He later added: “You would like to think, if you’re Manchester United, that, having come so far, they’ll get things done in the coming days and the next couple of weeks.

“I don’t know the exact timescale in that sense because you’ve got to dot a lot of Is and cross a lot of Ts but I think United are in a position where they want to get this closed but it’s not closed yet.”

The verdict

What obstacles might remain in talks with the 52-year-old?

Well, according to Fabrizio Romano, he’s asked the club to be ‘100% involved on present and future strategy’, encompassing additions, outgoings and new contracts.

He apparently considers this ‘key’ to his prospective ‘rebuild’ at Old Trafford.

It will be intriguing, if he’s confirmed as the next manager by the end of the month, to see how much input he has on the contracts that expire in the summer.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata are currently due to leave as free agents, but will he have something to say about that?

O zagueiro Henrique está livre para assinar contrato com o Corinthians, no qual já treina desde a semana passada. Nesta quinta-feira, sua rescisão de contrato com o Fluminense foi publicada no Boletim Informativo Diário (BID) da Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF). Era o que faltava para o jogador ser oficializado como reforço do Timão.

Henrique conseguiu a rescisão contratual na Justiça, após alegar atraso de vencimentos. Antes, ele foi colocado em lista de dispensa pelo Fluminense, momento no qual passou a negociar com o Corinthians. Será o sexto reforço do Timão para a temporada 2018.

Além do zagueiro, o Corinthians já contratou o lateral-esquerdo Juninho Capixaba, o volante Renê Júnior, o meia Mateus Vital e os atacantes Júnior Dutra e Emerson Sheik. O clube ainda busca um camisa 9 para substituir Jô, e chegou a negociar com Henrique Dourado, também do Fluminense.

Henrique tem treinado no CT Joaquim Grava enquanto aguarda para assinar contrato. O vínculo deve ser válido por três temporadas. Ele ainda aprimora a forma física e deve demorar um pouco mais para estrear pelo clube. Foi contratado para substituir Pablo, que não acertou permanência e voltou ao Bordeaux (FRA). Em seu lugar, tem jogado Pedro Henrique ao lado de Balbuena. O elenco ainda tem Vilson, Léo Santos e Yago como zagueiros.
